Necessary Medical care
The ACLU sues to block Texas from investigating parents of trans youth. The ACLU argues that the governor’s instructions were issued without proper authority, in violation of a Texas law and the state constitution, and violate the constitutional rights of transgender youth and their parents. The complaint names Abbott, DFPS Commissioner Jaime Masters and the DFPS as defendants.
Medical organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association have condemned state government efforts to restrict access to gender-affirming care for minors, saying it dangerously interferes with necessary medical care.
I’m happy to see that this is being fought by the ACLU and being condemned by legitimate medical organizations. Legally and medically this is terrible. Why is it illegal for someone to be transgender or to parent a transgender child? As parents of transgender children, we should have the right to take care of our children including giving them necessary medical care. If this were any other medical issue, politics would not be involved.
Necessary medical care includes puberty blockers to stop the wrong puberty from happening.
If he is a transgender boy this would mean that he would:
- Stop his monthly period and
- Stop his breasts from developing.
If she is a transgender girl, it means that it would:
- Stop her voice from deepening
- Stop her from growing her facial hair and genitals
Transgender boys are boys. I’ve heard from parents with transgender sons do that getting his monthly period can be devastating. Many boys would be upset about this change in their body because they could see these changes as their body rebelling against them. Medical validation of their internal gender identity can only be done with the help of a knowledgeable physician.
Transgender girls are girls. I know that if male puberty changes happened to my daughter, it would seriously affect her mental health. Many girls would be upset about this change in their body because they could see these changes as their body rebelling against them. Medical validation of their internal gender identity can only be done with the help of a knowledgeable physician.
Necessary medical care can also include cross-hormones.
This helps boys to:
- Deepen his voice
- Grow facial hair
This helps girls to:
- Grow their breasts
- Feminize their face and body
It is necessary medical care to help boys mature into men. Many boys want to show that they are growing up into men but for transgender boys this is even more impactful. Medical validation of their gender identity can only be done with the help of a knowledgeable physician.
It is necessary medical care to help girls become women. Many girls want to show that they are growing up into women but for transgender girls this is vital. Medical validation of their internal gender identity can only be done with the help of a knowledgeable physician.
Gender confirmation surgery is when a transgender person has genital surgery to have the body that matches their gender identity. In other words, a transgender woman will have surgery to have a vulva or a transgender man will have surgery to have a penis. Not every transgender person has this surgery for different reasons.
For children, there is no gender confirmation surgery. Again, there is NO GENDER CONFIRMATION SURGERY FOR CHILDREN. This is a decision to be made by a transgender young adult with supportive parents after the age of 18. A child can not get surgery on their genitals until they are an adult. I said the same thing a few different ways so that it’s clear. After age 18, a young transgender adult can make the decision to go through gender confirmation surgery.
